Mad City Money: DCFCU Brings Financial Literacy to Miami-Dade College

February 2025-At Dade County Federal Credit Union (DCFCU), the Gen-You Committee is on a mission to empower the next generation with the financial education they need to succeed. Financial literacy is more than just understanding numbers; it's about giving students the skills to make informed, confident decisions about their finances. Through the Gen-You Committee, DCFCU is dedicated to helping students across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties gain a strong foundation in essential financial concepts, including budgeting, managing debt, saving, and more.

Building Strong Financial Foundations

On Valentine's Day, the Gen-You Committee had the opportunity to partner with Miami-Dade College Hialeah Campus during their Big Brother Big Sister Meeting. This event was a great success, offering students a chance to participate in Mad City Money, an interactive financial literacy game that simulates real-life financial challenges. Through the game, students learned how to manage a budget, plan for unexpected expenses, and make smart financial choices—valuable skills that will serve them well in the future.

DCFCU would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Georgette Perez and the entire team at Miami-Dade College Hialeah Campus for their warm welcome and continued support. Partnerships like this allow the Gen-You Committee to bring its mission to life and make a meaningful impact on the community.
