DCFCU Job Shadow Day Inspires Future Finance Leaders

February 2025 – At Dade County Federal Credit Union, we believe in shaping the future—not just in banking, but in the lives of young, ambitious minds. That’s why we were beyond excited to welcome 50 bright students from Homestead Senior High School’s Academy of Finance for an unforgettable job shadow day.

From the moment they walked through our doors, their curiosity and enthusiasm set the tone. Our team loved sharing insights into the world of finance, breaking down everything from smart money management to the perks of CDs and the wide range of financial services we offer. But this wasn’t just a lecture, it was an interactive, hands-on experience designed to show these students what a career in finance could look like.

One of the best parts? Their amazing questions! It was inspiring to see them so engaged, eager to understand how financial concepts apply to the real world. They weren’t just learning—they were envisioning their futures, and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of that journey.

In the words of Mrs. Merino, “The job shadow field trip to the DCFCU was an incredibly valuable experience for our 50 Academy of Finance students! The students had the opportunity to learn about various positions within the credit union, gaining insight into careers in finance and banking. The staff at DCFCU were welcoming, professional, and very knowledgeable, providing in-depth explanations about money management, CDs, and other financial services. It was an interactive and engaging experience that sparked curiosity and excitement in the students about potential careers in finance. This trip not only broadened their understanding of the financial industry but also offered a hands-on learning experience that will have a lasting impact.”

At DCFCU, we’re passionate about investing in the next generation of financial professionals. We hope this experience left these students feeling inspired, empowered, and excited about the endless possibilities ahead.
