In a demonstration of community spirit and commitment, Dade County Federal Credit Union proudly participated as the Finish Line Sponsor in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Loan Depot Park in Miami. This event wasn't just a walk; it was a vibrant celebration of hope and courage, where every step taken symbolized a united front against breast cancer. 

Making Strides: A Movement of Hope

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative is more than just a walk; it's a nationwide movement bringing communities together with a shared goal of ending breast cancer. Since 1993, this campaign has been a beacon of hope, supporting patients, survivors, thrivers, and caregivers. The funds raised are crucial in aiding lifesaving research, patient support, and spreading awareness about breast cancer prevention and early detection. 

Why It Matters

Breast cancer remains a significant health challenge. In 2023 alone, approximately 290,560 people will be diagnosed, with an additional 51,400 cases of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) will be diagnosed in women. This stark reality underscores the importance of events like the Making Strides walk. 

Dade County Federal's Contribution

As a top ten team in fundraising, Dade County Federal Credit Union showcased its commitment to this cause. The credit union's involvement goes beyond mere sponsorship, contributing funds as both a team and a sponsor. 

A Ribbon-Cutting Moment

The event was marked by a special moment as Federica Chalumeau, Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations at Dade County Federal, joined Miami-Dade County officials and other VIPs to cut the ribbon at the start line.
